How to find the color code of your Ford
Ford is arguably the most iconic car manufacturer in U.S. history, and models like the Mustang and Explorer are famous throughout the world. Ford has made finding their paint code straightforward, and it is typically located in a single location. However, our list below is just a general overview, and it may be in a different place, depending on the model.

- Open your Ford’s driver’s side door
- Navigate to the door jamb
- Look for the VIN tag which should be about halfway up
If, for any reason, the VIN tag is not in the location above, give us a call at 971-770-2372 . Once you provide a few details about your Edge or F-150, we will be able to identify your Ford Paint Code. Our team is available from 8:00am to 2:00 PST. If you prefer email, please send your requests to CustomerService@ERAPaints.com
How to understand your Ford paint code
Ford paint codes are usually two characters and may contain both numbers and letters. You may see other characters nearby, but these can be ignored.

Example: CX
The two digits stand for CX Dark Shadow Gray Metallic. Often you may see more extended codes like UX/M7226A Ingot Silver Metallic, anything past the “/” in the above paint code is irrelevant, but you can include it when you contact us.
VIN tags contain a lot of information and numerous abbreviated headings. The paint code will be located underneath the barcode and may be prefixed by “EXT PNT,” which stands for exterior paint. Descriptions like Oxford White won’t be on the sticker; instead, it will be Z1 or M6887A/Z1.
Ford Fun Facts
Ford revolutionized the car manufacturing process, and the Ford Model T is still one of the best selling cars of all time. Recently, models like the Focus and Mustang have become the face of Ford and can be found around the globe. Ford even produced a pedal-powered toy Mustang which around 95,000 Americans bought as Christmas presents.
Metallic Colors have become particularly popular among Ford enthusiasts in recent times, with colors like M7205A/UJ Sterling Gray Metallic becoming the colors of choice. Ford has also become the must-have SUV for many seeking a sturdier ride, led by its Explorer model. However, it is their F-Series, including the F-150, which is the standout and has been the most popular truck for over three decades
