- The door jamb on the driver’s side of the vehicle
- The firewall under the hood. Check on both sides and in the middle.

Understanding the paint code
Mazda has made their paint codes easy to understand. It doesn’t matter if you have an RX-7 or B2200, the code is usually two or three characters long. It will contain both numbers and letters.

Example: A3F
A3F is the color code for Brilliant Black. Other examples include A3E Classic Red and 42A Meteor Gray Mica. When purchasing your touch up paint, be sure to use the paint code and not the written color.

There is a lot of information on the manufacturer’s sticker, and locating the paint code can be difficult at first. The code will be prefixed with a “COLOR CODE” header to make it stand out. You can find this on the bottom right-hand side of the tag just above the barcode.
Mazda: A brief history
Mazda is known around the world for its iconic models such as the MX-5, RX-8, and the Mazda Speed 6. The company was founded in 1920 in Hiroshima, Japan and its first vehicle was a three-wheeled truck. Mazda is the only automotive manufacturer that produces rotary engine-powered cars.
Ford used to be a substantial shareholder in Mazda, owning 33.4 percent up until 2008, and this is why their paint codes are configured similarly. The first Mazda Coupe was created in red, but more recently, the company has seen a rise in popularity of its metallic colors that include 42S Titanium Flash Metallic and 38P Liquid Silver Metallic.
