To locate the color code on your Nissan:

Nissan Paint Code Location
  1. Open the driver’s side door.
  2. Find the plaque that is bolted to the door jamb. It can be pretty low on the door.
  3. Look for the “Color Trim” heading – generally near the bottom left
  4. The Nissan paint code is 3 digits long and made up of numbers and letters – for example, AX6
  5. There sometimes another number or letter next to the 3 digits. You can ignore this.

Thankfully, finding the paint code is simple and straightforward with Nissan cars. On all Nissan’s, the color code can be found on a plaque located in the driver’s side door jamb.

Nissan Paint Code Location

It is written under the color trim heading and consists of 3 digits. The digits will have both numbers and letters. Sometimes there will be a fourth digit on the right-hand side which will be slightly separated from the others, and this can be ignored.

Your Nissan paint code is KH3, which happens to be Black Obsidian from the 2009 Altima

.Nissan uses different names for the same paint color. Meaning the Liquid Platinum Metallic on your truck may have a different name on your neighbor’s coupe, but both will use K23 paint code. After getting the color code, the rest of the process is simple: order the correct Nissan paint online and get free delivery.

If for any reason the plaque is not in the door jamb, there are several ways you can get the code:

  • The color code will also be written on the firewall of your engine bay or may be found on the door pillar or core support
  • You can get your Nissan paint code by the VIN – Call Nissan’s North America phone number on 1-800-647-7261. Give them your VIN, and they will give you the code over the phone.
  • We have an easy-to-use color chooser you can choose the make and model of the car and get the code in minutes. If you have any issues, please don’t hesitate to call our customer care team.

There are three options when purchasing paint to repair your Nissan:

  • Paint Pen
  • Paint Bottles
  • 12 oz. Aerosol Spray Canister

You will notice that Nissan touch up paint pens are not on this. Why not? At ERA Paints we don’t sell them. In fact, paint pens do not have the level of quality that we expect. They don’t match the OEM colors as well as the other options and should only be used for the tiniest of scratches or chips. If you are looking to retouch your Nissan Quest Galaxy Black Metallic or your Nissan Murano Liquid Platinum Metallic, then the pen won’t lay the metallic flakes properly.
